We are what we eat, drink or breathe
You’ve heard that saying, “You are what you eat.” It’s been around so long that it seems like it has become a cliché or worse, a saying without meaning. But for anyone who knows me, I am a strong believer in preventative ways that can maintain health. And the first step to prevent illness is to really look at what you put into your body, whether it is what you eat, drink or breathe.
If you look at the food that we eat, much of it can be genetically modified and lacking in nutrients. And what are you drinking? Or are you dehydrated because you are not drinking enough water? Every day, we eat and drink without really thinking about what we are putting into our bodies, which can impact our health if we are lacking in vitamins and minerals.
Unless you’re living in a bubble, you’re exposed to chemicals all the time, whether from chemical additives in our food to the air we breathe that may contain free radicals. It all takes a toll on our immune systems. As a result, we may feel tired, sick or come down with an illness or allergy.
What does this have to do with massage? Everything! Our bodies’ aren’t meant to live in a state of disharmony. We accept that we need to be sick every once in a while, or at the very least, get an occasional cold or runny nose. The answer is preventative medicine. Once we allow it to build up those natural defences, it is the first step to better health and harmony.
