Tis the Season… to put on a brave face
Have you noticed the Christmas “season” starts earlier each year? I remember when Halloween decorations were not surrounded by Christmas decorations at the store or familiar carols were not played everywhere you went… in early November. Even if you’re a Christmas junkie like me, it can get a bit much. The pressure to put on a smile and feel festive every day for two months is not natural. It’s no wonder so many people feel down during the holidays!
We all live with stress, which affects our minds and bodies. Whether it is personal or financial or work-related, stress is part of our lives and can show up in many areas, from headaches to recurring neck and shoulder pain. Many of my clients visit me for stress-related symptoms and appreciate how soothing a massage can feel.
Unfortunately stress doesn’t take a holiday. This time of year we deal with the added stress of all those festive holiday commitments. Even if you want to avoid it, there is often pressure to socialise more.
A therapeutic massage can work wonders to calm the body’s reaction to all that stress. I use many relaxation and speciality massage techniques depending on what you may need, including thermotherapy, aromatherapy, joint release movements, shiatsu and Swedish massage. Christmas may still be stressful but a regular massage can help you countdown to the new year with more balance.
